Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Rescue

S’Wheat Rescues & Adoptions, Inc. is a Federally recognized 501c3Public Charity dedicated to placing Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers and Wheatables who have been abandoned, neglected, are puppymill victims, or whose present owner cannot, or will not, keep them any longer, into loving, caring, and permanent forever homes.

Drake - S'Wheat Rescues

Wheatens go through many color changes in their first year of life. They are born a dark brown or red color with black masks and ears. Puppies are the most mislabeled as they look nothing like the adult of the breed. In the first year of life Wheatens go through a dramatic change in color. They go from the dark coloring of birth to sometimes a nearly white color. As they age the color ripens and deepens and they usually reach thier adult coloration by two years of age.

The Wheaten standard is for a height between 17 – 19″ at the withers and between 30 – 40 lbs. in weight with the female being at the lower end of the scale. This will, of course, not hold true with the Wheatables as their size will be affected by whatever breed they are mixed with. Purebred Wheatens generally have docked tails but not always. Wheatens have large black noses and deep brown eyes.

Greyhound Angels Rescue

Fudd - Greyhound Angels Adoption

So, you think that you want to adopt a retired racing greyhound?  Please understand that greyhound ownership is a lifestyle and a privilege.  Your decision to do so should not be taken lightly.  There are several steps within the process that will enable the potential adopter to make an informed decision regarding greyhound adoption.

Come out to our kennel located in Pennsauken, New Jersey.  Bring your entire family, any other dogs that are in your home, or anyone who will be a constant extended family to your greyhound.  Fill out an application and talk to our volunteers.  We will match your application to as many available greyhounds that fit your lifestyle.  Then it is up to you.  We will introduce you to them one at a time in our playroom.  Spend as much time as you need.  You get to pick the greyhound that touches your heart.

All adopters will receive the name and phone number of a Greypal at the time of adoption.  This is an experienced greyhound adopter that you may call with any questions or concerns once  your greyhound is home.  Your Greypal will also be contacting you to ensure that your greyhound’s transition is going smoothly and that you do not have any questions regarding their care.  We are committed to making your adoption experience a “greyt” one.

Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue

Fae, Border Collie - Mid Atlantic Border Collie Rescue

We are a not-for-profit organization run primarily by volunteers. We currently serve the following states; Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia and West Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia. Fundamentally, Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue is a haven for Border Collies and dogs of the Herding group that have been misplaced, neglected, or abandoned. Many of these dogs are turned into animal shelters because their previous owners discovered they were not up to the challenges border collies have to offer or because changes in their lives left them unable to care properly for their dogs.

The individuals who comprise Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue are current or former breeders, and handlers with years of experience and who deeply understand the needs of the Border Collie breed.

Being able to help a dog that has been overlooked, misunderstood or who’s life was in jeopardy is our primary goal. Placing these dogs in an environment where they are understood and cared for and watching them blossom is our greatest reward.

Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue is located in Kent County on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, convenient to our coverage area.

All dogs taken into Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue are assessed for temperment, abilities, and needs. They are crate trained, are updated on innoculations, and are spayed or neutered. An application must be completed and approved in order to adopt.
